We recommend annual wellness exams for all pets and twice yearly visits for pets over the age of 10 years, to catch any potential problems early. Apart from these wellness visits, if you notice any changes in the health or behaviour of your pet, it is best to give us a call for guidance.
It's the law. Veterinarians are required to have a current Veterinary Client Patient Relationship (VCPR) in order to legally prescribe and dispense medications to a patient. In order to honor the VCPR a patient must be examined a minimum of once per year. Some conditions may require rechecks to re-evaluate the success of medical treatment, and further tailor the therapy.
Our spay and neuter surgeries for cats and dogs are already discounted, as we believe in the importance of the procedure for population control and for the health of our patients. If you cannot afford the regular cost, we suggest that you apply to either the Winnipeg Humane Society SNAP (spay/neuter assistance program) or Project CARE for cats.
Most puppies and kittens have their first vet visit around 8 weeks of age. We do a complete physical exam and assess for any congenital (in born) problems, as well as provide species and age appropriate vaccinations and deworming. We are happy to answer any questions you might have about training, grooming, and nail care at this visit.
